| Al Oerterb: Queens, New York, USA, Sep 19, 1936 d: Fort Myers, Florida, Oct 1, 2007 Alfred Adolf Oerter, Jr. (September 19, 1936 – October 1, 2007) was an American athlete, and a four time Olympic Champion in the discus throw.
Oerter was the first track and field athlete to win a gold medal in the same individual event in four consecutive Olympics.
In 2005, he was inducted into the Nassau County Sports Hall of Fame. As long as I can concentrate and remain somewhat calm, I can normally do very well.I don't compete with other discus throwers. I compete with my own history.To exercise at or near capacity is the best way I know of reaching a true introspective state. If you do it right, it can open all kinds of inner doors. |
